Modern Party x The Stylist's Guide Collaboration
If you caught our last blog post, you would have seen that we collaborated with local SA hire biz Modern Party, to create a beautiful Mother’s Day tablescape - featuring a range of their new hire items!
We incorporated a natural palette, using tonal colours, gorgeous dried florals and some gold cutlery to tie it all together - the perfect set-up for Mum, or an upcoming event you may be having at home.

Modern Party: Tell me a little bit about yourself and your business?
The Stylist’s Guide: This question always gets me, I never find myself to be an interesting person, especially since becoming a mum. My days are filled with nursery rhymes, sensory games and trying to get an 8 month old down for a nap. The Stylist’s Guide is my first baby, which came about in 2014 after I found it hard to find someone to assist with my own wedding planning, who aligned with my vision to create the perfect event for myself and my husband. I had recently completed my studies in business and I was just about to start my event management course. This is when the idea of The Stylist’s Guide jumped into my head, as at the time in 2014 there wasn’t much happening in the industry, which aligned a stylist with wedding planning. My favourite thing is to see the events come together from start to finish. Fast-forward to 2016 and The Stylist’s Guide was born.
Modern Party: What do you think makes an event successful?
The Stylist’s Guide: Make your event memorable. Not only do you want your guests to be talking about your event for weeks, months and years to come, you need to make sure your event is a true reflection of you. There is nothing more that your guests will love than all the little details, which make the event personal and welcoming. It doesn’t have to be something big for them to remember your event, the smallest detail is what they love most!
Modern Party: What advice would you give brides to ensure their wedding day is everything they want it to be?
The Stylist’s Guide: As cliché as it is, don’t sweat the small stuff! Your wedding is about you marrying your favourite person in the whole world. On the day, becoming his wife is more important than anything else! Hire yourself a wedding planner, stylist and an on the day coordinator. You spend months, days, hours planning every single aspect of your wedding day and on the day of your event, the last thing you want to be doing is stressing about everything coming together perfectly. This was one thing I learnt from planning my own wedding and that it is again where the idea of The Stylist’s Guide came about. I wanted someone to continue to make it fun and hassle free with on the day event coordination and styling. I needed someone to work alongside the venue, suppliers to coordinate the set up, ensure all deliveries are on track, style our event and look after the finer details.
Modern Party: What wedding trends do you see coming through for 2021?
The Stylist’s Guide: I am very excited to see colour come back into weddings in 2021! There was a small period where most brides went ‘safe’ – when I say ‘safe’ they stuck to simple colour tones, simple styles and simple selections in their hire items. We love colour and we love allowing our brides to step outside the square! Especially because colour can be featured through styling elements such as their centrepieces, flowers, napkins or stationary.
Modern Party: Since having beautiful Santino, how has life changed as an event stylist? What advice would you give Mother’s who run their own business and are new Mothers?
The Stylist’s Guide: As a stylist, my life hasn’t changed too much, but as a business owner it has changed dramatically. My life is now run by a little 8 month old boy – I am his mumma and I am responsible for absolutely everything involving him. Everything from preparing his food, sorting out his daily activities to ensuring he is going down for all his naps at the right time. Becoming ‘MUM’ is gaining another full-time job in itself.
Before you have your baby ensure you have the right support network around you, people do not lie when they say it takes a village to look after a baby. I am truly blessed with an incredible team and family (my village), if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be able to continue to do what I am doing. Never feel guilty about wanting to spend time with your baby, they will only be your baby for a year. So much happens, so much changes and this is all from the minute they are born.
Modern Party: What’s the best advice your Mother or a Mother figure has ever given you?
They are only your Baby for a year, but your child forever.
The first year is so precious and it goes so quickly, before you know it you are looking at a toddler.
Take in all the moments and celebrate all the little milestones, they might not know what is happening, but you do and you can remind them when they get older.
Modern Party: What’s your favourite Modern Party range?
The Stylist’s Guide: I am obsessed with the new Willow Range and the Lotus Range! I cannot even pick a favourite piece from wither of the ranges, I just love everything!
A big thank you to Modern Party Hire for collaborating with us this Mother’s Day. Keep an eye out for our next collab.
