What flowers will be in season for your wedding?

Have you considered your flowers when selecting your wedding date? Here’s your reminder that you should!

Why, you ask? One of the biggest styling elements for a wedding is flowers. They add to the romance, the theming and transform a space into something truly special like nothing else.

At The Stylist’s Guide, we LOVE flowers. We could spend days (and maybe sometimes we do, don’t tell the boss!) searching through images, saving all of the beautiful creations that we love and hope to use for our couples!

Unfortunately, not all flowers are available year-round. Imagine having a vision of a peony filled reception space your entire life, to discover that you have booked a venue in May and importing peonies will cost your entire wedding budget. Disaster!

To prevent this heartbreak, we have listed some of the more popular floral varieties broken down into the traditional Australian seasons as a guide for you:

Summer – December, January, February: Hydrangea, Dahlia, Cosmos, Delphinium

Autumn – March, April, May: Calla lily, Delphinium, Dahlia, Tulip, Rose

Winter – June, July, August: Phalaenopsis Orchid, Lisianthus, Poppy, Tulip, Ranunculus

Spring – September, October, November: Peony, Ranunculus, Rose, Anthurium

Of course, if you do have your heart set on a particular floral variety, your florist and wedding stylist (hopefully us!) should be able to suggest alternatives that will give you a similar look.

Don’t forget, the added benefits of using seasonal florals are that they are often fresher, more affordable and naturally suit the time of year so they blend into your overall styling.

Does lining up your wedding date, venue and florals get you a little dizzy? When you enlist our help, we make sure that feeling never comes!
