Maree & James | Wedding at Glen Ewin Estate
If you didn’t know already, here at The Stylist’s Guide we love weddings. So much so, that it was our director’s own wedding which spurred the idea for The Stylist’s Guide in the first place! Alyse found it hard to find someone to assist with her wedding planning, who aligned with her vision to create the perfect event for her and her husband. Not someone else’s version of perfect, the kind that was suited to them.
Helping bride’s turn their vision into reality has since become The Stylist’s Guide’s most sought after service - something we recently provided for Maree Hopgood, nee Stoubos, and her husband James. Maree said, “working in events myself, I was so worried about not being able to do a final check of everything, but having The Stylist’s Guide there for me doing this - I knew I had nothing to worry about.”
Apart from the abundance of love and happiness bouncing around the room on their wedding day, Maree’s vision consisted of traditional elements, mixed in with the new. This meant traditional colouring when it came to the flowers, which were green and white, along with beautiful white drapery across the ceiling of the reception. To keep it modern, splashes of blush pink appeared in the invitations, charger plates, table vases and bridesmaid dresses - a must for the bride as it’s her favourite colour.
Other modern elements that brought the space to life were two neon signs; “Mr & Mrs” sat above the Hopgood’s at their bridal table, while “Let’s Dance” donned the DJ booth. We created photo moments for guests at pre-dinner drinks with a mesh sign that read “At Last”, along with a love swing that had “I got you babe” engraved on the seat, which guests were revelling on throughout the day.
Maree was a dream to work with, who continuously bounced ideas off our team, making it just like planning a wedding with a best friend. Her vision from the start of the process was phenomenal, which not only made our job easy, but the day was a stand out too. Maree says the Stylist’s Guide helped by, “being my second eye and being completely honest. I had my vision and The Stylist’s Guide helped me bring it to life … knowing The Stylist’s Guide was there made all my worries disappear as I knew everything would be perfect and just how I wanted it.”
To make sure all of Maree’s ideas were executed to perfection and her day ran smoothly, she chose our Consult, Style, Repeat and The Finishing Touches services.
Consult, style, repeat
styling consultation
To make sure we execute your event to the highest standard, we require 2-3 styling consultations prior, to ensure everything is on track, requirements are met and the finer details are finalised.
In Maree’s case we did 4–5 to ensure everything ran smoothly – we discussed suppliers, styling and the running of the day. Given the nature of Maree’s work, she was happy to arrange some things and TSG arranged others. Plus, we offered Maree support with her decisions during the planning process.
The Finishing Touches

And they lived Hoppily ever after…
