It's A Wrap | 2019 With The Stylist's Guide
Can you believe it? 2019 is coming to a close - and what a year its been for The Stylist’s Guide! From planning weddings, to styling for incredible clients and our director having a baby, 2019 has been one massive, productive, fulfilling and happy year. We thought it’d be fun to look back on all of the incredible achievements we have made over the last year, sharing with you how we turned a few of our client’s dreams into reality, as well as some of our own!
Let’s start our recap with one of our favourite events of the year… In March we had the pleasure of working on Adelaide PR queen Maree Stoubos’ wedding to hubby James Hopgood. Maree’s vision consisted of traditional elements, mixed in with the new. This meant traditional colouring when it came to the flowers, which were green and white, along with beautiful white drapery across the ceiling of the reception. To keep it modern, splashes of blush pink appeared in the invitations, charger plates, table vases and bridesmaid dresses - a must for the bride as it’s her favourite colour.
Maree was a dream to work with, who continuously bounced ideas off our team, making it just like planning a wedding with a best friend. Her vision from the start of the process was phenomenal, which not only made our job easy, but the day was a stand out too. Maree says the Stylist’s Guide helped by, “being my second eye and being completely honest. I had my vision and The Stylist’s Guide helped me bring it to life … knowing The Stylist’s Guide was there made all my worries disappear as I knew everything would be perfect and just how I wanted it.”

With our second year of business well underway, we thought it was the perfect time to bring a fresh and exciting website to life, that reflects all of the hard work we have put in since launching The Stylist’s Guide - which you’re using right now! In April we decided it was time launch our new website into the stratosphere, featuring a new gallery, services, prop hire and shop sections, as well as a few extra testimonials from both new and existing clients. To find out what we changed up, you can read our blog about our new website here.
With our new website, we decided it was also the perfect time to expand our prop hire range, to provide our clients with greater quality options when looking to hire for an event. Having great prop hire is so important to us, not only to ease our client’s experience, but to provide all South Australians with hire items that are good quality, clean, functional and of course, beautiful.
Arguably one of the biggest milestones for The Stylist’s Guide this year was welcoming our director Alyse’s little one into the world. On Wednesday, August 28 at 5.58pm little Santino arrived, weighing in at 4,05kg and 52cm long.
With the events industry being one that’s not a typical 9-5 and to ensure our clients are always feeling the love, we work around the clock responding to inquires, organising suppliers and of course, styling and managing events most weekends. Because of this, Alyse knew that the chance of having time to organise her own baby shower would’ve been slim; she was more than happy to sit back and simply enjoy the journey to becoming a mother, while ensuring all of her clients celebrated in style.
As you can probably guess, Alyse’s eight closest friends wouldn’t let her get away with not celebrating - they locked in a date and made sure they celebrated in style. The Stables of Victoria Park was chosen by the group as a perfect venue to celebrate, with incredible Italian food, cocktails and good vibes.
As much as her friends organised everything to a tee, when it came to the styling Alyse was given the creative control to create some magic of her own - we all know how hard it is to pull away from your favourite thing to do! Lucky for her, Daniella from Utopia Design Studio is one of Alyse’s besties, who created all of the baby shower stationary, including name tags, swizzle sticks, games, welcome sign and stickers for the bonbonieres, plus came up with a gorgeous colour scheme for the afternoon.

Wasting no time at all after having baby Santino, we jumped right into one of our biggest activations to date, project managing and styling the pop-up for Burnside Village’s magazine ‘The Vine’ 10 year anniversary. This epic installation gave Burnside Village customers the chance to win a $100 gift card by taking a photo inside the ‘magazine cover’. We loved conceptualising this activation and watching it all come to life!
In October we worked along side our favourite A-team from Girl About Town Co. to create some magic for the Launch of Class A Jeweller’s Engagement Week. We were engaged (pun intended) to create a lust worthy space that radiated romance for the Class A Jewellers Proposal Season launch night. Influencers and media alike dined in the Class A studio, where we had set up a perfectly pink table-scape featuring flowers from Le Numinous, the prettiest pink velvet chairs from White Marquee and a delicious spread by Out in the Paddock. It was a beautiful night that we loved being apart of!
To round out the month of October, team TSG attended the 19th South Australian Annual Bridal Industry Awards, as we were nominated in the category for ‘Best Wedding Planner’. We were up against some incredibly talented Adelaide vendors, however we were lucky enough to be placed in the TOP 3 SA wedding planners of the year. This was a momentous occasion for The Stylist’s Guide team, as we always strive to provide the best possible service, attention to detail and industry experience that we can. We’d like to give a big shoutout to our amazing brides and grooms who nominated us for this award - we wouldn’t have become a finalist in the first place if we didn’t have the opportunity to work alongside you on your special day!
Last but not least, we are so excited to have celebrated our second year of The Stylist’s Guide with you all! Without our incredible clients, and the dedication of our team none of what we do would be possible. Thank you for all of your support, love and dedication over the past two years. We can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store for us!
Love, The Stylist’s Guide x
