3 'Must Haves' For Your Kid's Birthday Party

It doesn’t get more special than celebrating your little ones!

At The Stylist’s Guide, we relish any opportunity to be a little bit extra, which is why we especially love children’s birthday parties as you can be extra imaginative, and extra playful and have a whole lot of fun with every aspect of the event.

We have been able to create so many magical birthday parties for our client’s children and find it so special to be included in these celebrations. At The Stylist’s Guide, we’ve put on our fair share of children’s birthdays, and in our experience, we believe there to be ‘3 must haves’ to any children’s birthday that will take it to the next level!

Must-Have #1 – Personalisation

Personalisation is key and, no, we don’t mean including personalised elements (though a bit of personalisation never hurt anybody) everywhere – when we say personalisation, we mean having the event personalised to you. Personalised to your family. Personalised to your little one.

Nothing speaks more than a theme – what does your child like? Do their eyes widen when they see animals or are they more into planes, trains and automobiles? How do you and your child have the most fun together? Think about how you can incorporate your real family life into this party, which will make it meaningful for everyone there.

Must-Have #2 – A kid’s play area

Keeping children entertained is a full-time job, especially when a little extra sugar is involved! If there is an area that can be set aside for the kids to run around, do activities in, and make a mess, you won’t feel like you’re being a stage 5 clinger, or without your own adult space to chat and mingle (and be child-free, big yes!).

Create a safe place for your kids to move around injury-free with soft furnishings. You can then enjoy the party with your family and friends, plus catch up with other parents you don’t normally see… it’s just as much a day for you to be celebrated as much as your little one!

Must-Have #3 – Good food (and lots of it!)

Keeping their little bellies full is important, that way they’re happy and so are you (plus a glass of bubbles in your hand won’t hurt)!

This is an area where personalisation hits it out of the park – do you have a specific

heritage and enjoy a certain type of food as a family or perhaps a dish that is a fan favourite in your house? Get creative with ways to incorporate this into the menu with options for adults and simplified versions for children.

Gone are the days of party pies and fairy bread alone (though we would never turn down either of these)! Nowadays, people love good food and will remember it from an event, long after the sugar high has worn off.

One last (and bonus) ‘Must Have’ for making your children’s birthday memorable is making it special for everyone involved: for the child, for the parents who have survived (albeit maybe only ‘just’), for family members, friends and everyone in between.

Make sure you get a heap of pictures with your gorgeous little one and enjoy the special milestone together, time only flies from there!
